This review essay presents exposition and analysis of Nasar Meer’s, The Cruel Optimism Racial Justice. I outline Meer’s argument detailing the historical emergence ongoing social reproduction racial injustice in relation to nation formation, endemic racism, health inequalities, restrictions on refugees asylum, White supremacism as pervasive throughout western societies. suggest that intervention usefully highlights normalised instead exceptional also raises importance white people divesting their privilege. Analytically, argue book productively opens up a space reflect efficacy race normative category, both intrinsically anti/racism. Furthermore, by demonstrating inherent inequality race, invites reader coherence racialised ideal justice.
